'MAKE IN INDIA' WILL BRING SECURITY MANUFACTURING TO INDIA
The Indian government has been trying to promote its "Make in India" campaign ever since its current Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power. After its launch last year, the campaign has slowly been gaining momentum, with promotional campaigns in international and regional media.
Although the initial roll out was slow, the campaign has managed to speed up sentiments among businesses in the country. This is true about the security industry as well. The best part, they point out, is that the campaign is no longer just on paper and there is definite action on the ground.
"There are many foreign manufacturers who have already come and will come to India to set up their plant," said Sagar Gosalia, Sr. VP for Marketing and Sales at Matrix Comsec. "Bosch, a Germany-based company, has set up its manufacturing plant in India for security products."
So what is it that makes India attractive as a manufacturing destination that might even challenge China in the future? According to Pawan Desai, CEO of Mitkat Advisory there are four main reasons.
Domestic Demand:India is a big developing country with a huge population, second only to China. This itself makes it one of the biggest and fastest growing markets in the world.
Higher No of Labor:One of the major factors that made China a manufacturing hub was its low labor costs, but this has changed over the recent years as the country’s economy has developed and wages have risen. India has come into the picture as labor costs in the subcontinent are still low. To make it even more attractive, it’s not just labor but land costs for setting up manufacturing plants are also low.
largest number of young peopleDespite having a smaller population than China, India has the world’s largest number of young people, according to a United Nations report. This combined with an educational system that gives importance to engineering and technical subjects has created a good number of able individuals who can work at various levels – from white collar managers to blue collar technicians.
An Alternative to Ailing China:What makes all the above mentioned points relevant is the fact that China's economy is no longer as powerful as it once was. The recently released weak export/import figures were just one of the many indicators that the world's second largest economy is slowing down. And as manufacturing in China is becoming increasingly clouded with concerns, India is becoming an ideal nearby alternative for the major companies.
But perhaps the most important factor that foreign companies are looking towards is a change in government policies that would make the country more business-friendly. This has not been too disappointing either.
Government has allowed 100 percent Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in electronics systems design and manufacturing sector, which has encouraged foreign players to invest in the country. According to the Financial Times data service India had overtaken China and US to take the place of No. 1 FDI destination in the first half of 2015.
Several concerns do exist about the future of "Make in India" drive, as foreign companies still find it difficult to do business in India. But at this point, it would be safe to say that there is a strong interest from overseas to invest in India, and more companies are finding it the right time to enter the subcontinent's market.

HOW TO DECIDE WHICH IS RIGHT POWER SUPPLY FOR CCTV SECURITY CAMERA?
For ensuring the stability and reliability of your video surveillance system, installers and users should choose high quality power supply. Poor quality power supply can lead to image distortion, flickering, even damage of security camera hardware. Typically,
outdoor security cameras utilize: 12V DC power supply, PTZ cameras use: 24V AC power supply, some security cameras may use : 220V AC power, 5V DC power supply is widely used in indoor security cameras.
POWER ADAPTERS OR DISTRIBUTION BOXES?
All security cameras require some sort of power source. Power distribution boxes and power adapters are used in most installations of security cameras. If installing 4 cameras or less, most installers will choose to use a power adapter and splitter whereas installations involving more cameras, they will use a power distribution box. When choosing a power adapter, be sure to get one that supports the voltage for your cameras.
SECURITY CAMERA SUPPORTS BOTH DC12V/AC24V, HOW TO SELECT POWER SUPPLY ?
Selecting the AC24V power supply, because in the same transmission distance, the higher voltage, the lower of consumption. High voltage can allow camera to get sufficient power supply. Meanwhile, using AC 24V, when debugging security cameras, you can choose sync power supply, this can sync image vertical frequency across different devices.
HOW MUCH POWER IS REQUIRED BY CCTV CAMERAS?
This question is difficult to answer for those inexperienced installers, many of them find the power capacity isn't sufficient in real installation, they have to increase additional power supply. Actually, the security camera needs large current when it firstly boots, plus the transmission consumption, therefore, to calculate total required power supply, doesn't mean you simply add rated power of each cameras together. The correct method is adding the rated power, then multiply 1.3, the result is the real required power supply for security cameras, additionally you need to consider the cable power consumption and power budget.
An example:
If we install 100 units security cameras in a commercial building, the rated power consumption is 4W for the security camera. How to calculate the required power supply?
Security camera power consumption: 4W x 100 units x 1.3 = 520W
After the consumption, the needed power rating: 520W x 1.3 = 676W
Cable consumption and power budget: 676W x 1.3 = 878W
WHAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED WHEN SETTING UP POWER SUPPLY?
Users should avoid to use one power supply source. The reason as below:
1) When turn on/off power supply to repair video camera system. All security cameras start to boot, the required boot current is huge, this will has great impact to power supply, may lead to damage the power supply.
2) If all the security cameras use a single power supply. Once the power supply encounters problem, the whole video security cameras will turn off.
OTHER PROBLEMS WHICH YOU HAVE PAY ATTENTION TO?
1) When connect security cameras to power supply, don't connect long distance connected security cameras and near distance connected security cameras to the same power supply. If connected to the same power supply, once power supply voltage is too high, will damage near distance connected security cameras, once power supply voltage is too low, long distance connected cameras will not work. All the near distance connected security cameras should connect to one power supply, and all the long distance connected security cameras should connect to another power supply.
2) If the installation distance of security cameras is too far, users may use higher voltage power supply, such as 30V, 36V, 48V etc, even use 220V AC power supply.
Banking industry is one of core market sectors in video surveillance industry. Banks need high grade video surveillance systems to monitor their transaction offices and branches. IP technology is today's trend. Many new security installers really want to know how to setup/design IP video surveillance systems for bank. As the leading video surveillance products manufacturer, TENTRONIX is willing to provide you high definition network cameras and NVRs come with new technologies, meet the requirements of professional and reliable bank video surveillance solutions.
Generally, a typical network video surveillance system consists of network cameras and NVRs, as well as network switches (or PoE switches). Because this system relies on network to transmit data, so basically designing the IP video surveillance system is similar to hierarchical network topological routing. Since Power over Ethernet technology prevails in IP video surveillance solutions,we highly recommend our users to choose network equipment supports PoE. PoE can bring the users many benefits from both a network efficiency standpoint as well as a cost standpoint. With PoE, the constraint of having AC power outlets is eliminated, and centralized power management can be achieved.
BANK SECURITY SOLUTION CHALLENGES
MEGAPIXEL IMAGE QUALITY
Commercial users now require megapixel cameras support full HD 1080p video resolution, also can provide sufficient reliability for long-term operation. Additionally, network cameras must can withstand extreme weather conditions to support different kinds of environments and applications: water-resistant, vandalism, indoor and outdoor, extreme low temperature, etc.
SYSTEM SCALABILITY
Usually, bank security requires a distributed structure with centralized management. And the solution has to be scalable, allowing users to increase the number of network cameras at individual locations or expand the coverage of the solution to include even more locations.
SYSTEM RELIABILITY
Reliability is the big concern to bank security solution, and this kind of solution must has the feasibility of setting up a truly IP video monitoring solution that allows simple installation and free-maintenance. Project installers are well aware of the impact on system performance and stability generated by the large bandwidth required by megapixel video streams.
Do you plan to install analog CCTV surveillance systems? This is the quick start guide that intends to teach you how to physically install the security camera system. Before installing the security camera system, please make sure that you got everything needed to setup a surveillance system. A complete surveillance system includes digital video recorder (DVR), security cameras, power supply, 3+1 coaxial cables (power/video cables, monitor/display and optional equipment (e.g., battery backup,)
STEP 1: CABLE INSTALLATION
It's highly recommended to perform a thorough site survey to determine cable pathways and camera mounting locations before installing each multi-purpose power/video cable. The most frequently encountered problem when installing pre-made, Universal Plug-n-Play (UPnP) power/video cable is incorrectly orienting the cable. This is particularly troublesome when, say, the cable(s) is/are installed prior to sealing a wall.
Tech Tip: Use a permanent marker or labeler to mark the end of the cable that correctly matches the camera BEFORE installing the cable. Most entry-level security cameras include a molded female DC power jack designed for tool-less connection to the cable’s male DC power plug. A correctly oriented cable requires no additional mating adapters, splices, or similar cable modifications. This completes the cable installation step
STEP 2: CAMERA CONNECTIONS
With cable installation out of the way, it is now time to begin mounting and connecting the security cameras. Camera mounting instructions differ from camera to camera with most installations falling into the following categories:
• Bullet Cameras - Most bullet-style camera manufacturers include 3 to 4 self-tapping screws for securing the camera’s included mounting bracket to most flat vertical or horizontal surfaces. Screw anchors may also be included for mounting the camera to sheet rock, concrete block, brick, wood.
• Dome Cameras – Dome cameras are primarily designed for horizontal mounting, however, an increasing number of manufacturers provide highly maneuverable 3-axis (pan, tilt, & twist) gimbals & elongated dome bubbles for increased mounting flexibility. Elongated dome bubbles (“egg domes”) are especially useful when vertically mounting night vision dome cameras because they increase the camera’s overall Field of View (FoV) while simultaneously reducing undesirable Infrared (IR) reflections & glare. (Please consult the supplied camera manual for detailed installation instructions.)
With the cameras installed and in place, begin connecting camera-to-cable by first mating the camera’s female BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) connector to the cables male BNC connector. Next, mate the camera’s female DC power jack to the corresponding male DC power plug.
Tech Tip: Video/power connections are NOT weatherproof. Enclosing them in a weatherproof, single-gang electrical junction box, or j-box, can protect exposed connections. J–boxes are inexpensive and can be found in the electrical aisle of most hardware or home improvement stores. This completes the camera installation & connection step.
# STEP 3: POWER CONNECTIONS
Security Camera Systems ship with one of two types of power supply units -- plug-in (wall tap) transformers or, centralized (multi-camera) power supplies. Wall tap transformers are very similar to those used to power common household electronic devices, such as cordless telephone receivers. Wall tap transformers are supplied with all (4)-camera security systems. Multi-camera power supplies employ a single transformer to distribute power via a predefined number of outlets. Multi-camera power supplies provide the following system benefits:
Power Management – true multi-camera power distribution.
Multi-camera – Power/video cable is not designed to interface directly with the multi-camera power supply. A male DC power adapter “pigtail” is required to connect the cable’s female DC power jack to the appropriate power supply output terminals.
Tech Tip: Obey proper DC voltage wiring conventions by adhering to the following color-coded wire designations: Red = Positive (+), Black = Negative (-). AC power supplies use alternating current, so polarity does not have to be observed.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE: ICR, AWB, AGC
WHAT'S ICR (INFRARED CUT FILTER REMOVAL)?
An IR filter, or IR cut filter, - is a color filter blocking the infrared light. In order to avoid unwanted side-effects caused by infrared light (as part of the natural ambient light) during image capturing in day light mode, an IR Cut Filter is installed in front of the sensor. The filter is meant to prevent the incidence of infrared light onto the image sensor. When ICR is on, camera is able to increase highly its light sensitivity in monochrome mode.
WHAT'S AWB (AUTOMATIC WHITE BALANCE)?
Color temperature is directly related to environment and it influences on the color of image. AWB feature can automatically adjust the white balance in response to varying light conditions to reproduce accurate color without any color-cast caused by different lighting source (e.g. incandescent, fluorescent and quartz light).
WHAT'S AGC (AUTOMATIC GAIN CONTROL)?
It's a form of amplification where the camera will automatically boost the image received in much lower light conditions than standard in order to optimize the clarity of image in poor lit scene. Turn on AGC function will amplify the total video signal including noise.
